Hi, my name is Stephanie Nee BrucherWhen I went back to work after being at home with my kids, I found myself struggling to get dinner on the table.  I just didn’t have the time and energy to plan ahead.  During the drive home from work I was trying to figure out the question that I would inevitably hear when I got home.  “Mom, what’s for dinner?”

The problem was that I didn’t have a plan.  I either shopped last minute for the evening’s meal, picked up takeout or I went to the grocery store with a small list of things I definitely needed and a flyer with a bunch of circled items all over it.  I would buy stuff that was on sale, but I never had a plan for what to do with it when I got it home.  Consequently, I was spending a lot of money and wasting a lot of food and time.

I was stressed out beyond belief.  I realized if I had the ingredients in the house and a plan for dinner I could pull it off.  So I joined a menu planning service that I never used.  First, my family is not food adventurous; they like what they like, and second, who in their right mind (except that Julia Julia person) wants to attempt a new elaborate recipe 7 days a week?

I pitched the idea for We Got the List to Cheryl Hannan and Tina Newman.  They both have culinary arts backgrounds and within a couple of weeks we were churning out weekly menus.  I knew that we had to offer families a practical and flexible alternative.

Some menu planners boast they provide a year’s worth of recipes without repetition.  This is ludicrous to me.  First, I can’t see the point in making my eight year old wait until he’s nine to have sliders again.  Why wouldn’t you repeat your family’s favorite dinners?  Do you remember the “Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti Day” commercial?  There is something comforting in routine combined with our favorite foods.

Some people have a pattern of cooking, family recipes handed down for generations, and they know how to cook.  Some people need a little help in the kitchen.  Either way, our service is designed to help.  We will get you out of that rut and put a fire under
your pot.

Though, I consider myself to be a creative person, I just wasn’t quite able to pull it all together at mealtime.  Frankly, I was a mediocre cook.  This is where my partners, Tina and Cheryl come in; they both have the gift of culinary genius combined with practicality.  We are three, twenty-first century moms trying to balance it all.  We all have husbands, finicky eaters, work and schedules to coordinate.  On top of everything, we need to get dinner on the table.  Our goal is to help you not only get dinner on the table, but to get a great dinner on the table.  A meal that is simple, hassle free, budget conscious that everyone will enjoy.

We Got the List.com members have a plan, go to the grocery store with an organized list, and know what is on sale.

I want a pound of pasta and a half gallon of ice cream THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!)

“I just wanted to say thanks for offering such a great product!  I've subscribed to other menu mailers in the past, but the recipes were usually too complex or just didn't work for a family with kids.  I love the simplicity of your meals -- they're not the normal foods we eat, but aren't too daunting to try -- the perfect
balance!  My favorite feature would at this point, be staying around $150 a week, and being able to take advantage of the sales going on right down the street. It makes me feel like a smart shopper!  I also love the variety of
dinner types (slow-cooker, quick recipe, or traditional recipe).
It's a great service you're offering, and I really appreciate it!”

Thanks!

“I will let my sister-in-law know that the “List” works in NJ at Stop & Shop too.
I have friends in New Jersey and they would love to do this as well. I will forward the information to them. Appreciate that the recipes are simple. My sister-in-law works long hours and has been struggling with pulling together dinners and thought this made sense for her family.”

Thanks,
Carrie N.

“Yummy looking menu this week!!!! I can't wait to go to Stop and Shop tomorrow!"
